Your factory stereo was built to a price, not to sound good. The Stereo Shop has spent 50 years turning Minot's daily drivers, trucks, and project cars into systems that actually move you — from a simple speaker swap to a fully custom, amplified build. Whatever your budget and your goals, we'll get you there without the rattles, the hum, or the hack-job wiring.
You don't need a trunk full of equipment to dramatically improve your sound. For a lot of drivers, the biggest jump comes from two simple things: a quality set of speakers and a modern head unit. Factory speakers are usually thin, paper-cone units that distort the moment you turn things up. Swapping in real component or coaxial speakers from brands like Kicker and Alpine brings back clarity, detail, and volume you didn't know your doors were hiding.
Add a new head unit and you also gain Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth calling and streaming, a crisp touchscreen, and far better tuning control over your sound. We use vehicle-specific dash kits and wiring harnesses so it fits tight and looks factory — and we retain your steering-wheel controls, backup camera, and chimes so nothing you rely on stops working.
If you want to feel the music, that's where amplifiers and subwoofers come in. A dedicated amp gives your speakers clean, distortion-free power, and a properly built subwoofer enclosure adds the low end that factory systems simply can't produce. We design the system as a whole — matching amplifier power to your subs and speakers, wiring with proper-gauge cable and fusing, and tuning it so it hits hard without drowning out your highs.
For the customers who want a showpiece, we also do clean custom fabrication: fiberglass and MDF enclosures, amp racks, trunk builds, and lighting. The goal is always the same — it should look like it came from the factory that way, just a factory that cared a lot more about sound.
We sell and install gear we actually believe in, so we can stand behind the whole system:
Already bought something online? In most cases we'll install customer-supplied gear too — bring it by and we'll tell you exactly what it'll take to wire it in right.
The difference between a good install and a bad one is everything you don't see: proper-gauge wiring, soldered or correctly crimped connections, fused power runs, and everything tucked and secured so it never rattles or shorts. After 50 years, that craftsmanship is the reason Minot keeps sending us their next vehicle — and their kids' first cars.
Stop by with your vehicle and your budget and tell us what you're after — cleaner sound, more bass, CarPlay, or a full build.
We match the right gear to your car and your goals, and lay out a plan you can do all at once or in stages.
We wire it in clean, tune it, and walk you through every feature before you drive off.
Yes. We use the proper interface modules so your steering-wheel controls, factory backup camera, and chimes keep working after a new head unit goes in. Retaining factory features is a big part of doing the job right.
You can absolutely build in stages. A lot of customers start with better speakers and a head unit, then add an amp and subwoofer later. We'll plan the system so each step works on its own and nothing has to be redone.
In most cases, yes. We use vehicle-specific dash kits and harnesses for a tight, factory-look fit, and we can do clean custom fabrication for subs and amps when you want a showpiece. Either way, no rattles and no hack jobs.
Stop by our Minot shop or call — we'll spec the right setup for your vehicle and budget, same day.
